Summary
On Sunday the 27th of June in the early morning the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted by a relative to six people in distress in the Alboran Sea. The travellers had left from Al Hoceima the previous morning at 07.00 CEST on a grey rubber boat. Despite trying many times, our shift team was never able to establish direct contact to the travellers. At 01.51 CEST we wrote an email to the Spanish search and rescue organisation Salvamento Maritimo, alerting them to the distress of the travellers, and shortly after we alerted them via phone as well. We kept trying to reach the travellers all night without success. The next morning at 08.02 CEST Salvamento Maritimo informed us on the phone that they had rescued the travellers and brought them to Motril. Later in the morning we spoke to their relatives again, and they also confirmed to us that all travellers had arrived safely.
