Summary of the Case:
In the evening of Wednesday the 2nd of June the Alarm Phone was alerted by a relative of one of the travellers to a boat in distress. The boat had left from Laayoune and was carrying 52 travellers including 9 women and 2 babies. Soon after, at 22:30h CEST our shift team alerted the Spanish Search and Rescue Organization Salvamento Maritimo (SM). For over a week we were constantly in contact with SM, the Moroccan rescue authorities and relatives of travellers, however unfortunately we were never able to find out what happened to the boat and people on board.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets.
