Summary of the Case:
Around 02:15h CEST in the very early morning of Wednesday the 28th of April the Alarm Phone was called by a relative of a traveller in distress on board of a boat carrying approximately 79 people, who had departed from Zawiyya. At 03:11h CEST we received their GPS position and at 03:32h we alerted Italian, Maltese and Libyan authorities as well as the ngo boat Ocean Viking. We sent them various updates with new GPS positions as we received them from the travellers. In the morning we received the information that the boat had been intercepted by the so-called Libyan coastguard.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets.
