Case name: 2020_11_13_WM525

Situation: 42 travelers from Laayoune arrived to Spain

Status of WTM Investigation: Concluded

Place of Incident: Western Mediterranean

Summary

On the 13th of November the Alarm Phone was alerted by friends of travelers to a boat in distress carrying 42 travelers, including 5 women, which had departed from Laayoune in the early morning. It was not possible to establish contact with the travelers. We tried to establish contact with MRCC Rabat, however they did not pick up. After trying to reach MRCC Madrid they informed us that they have conducted 20 rescues in the past 24 hours and recommended us to contact the Red Cross to see if one of the cases coincides. On the following day we received a confirmation from friends of the travelers that they have arrived safely to Spain.
