Summary of the Case:

On 4th of December 2022 we were alerted by 7 people who had stranded on Samos. They told us they were freezing as their clothes were wet and some of them were in need of medical assistance.

At 9:37 CET we alerted Greek authorities and several NGOs by email.

At 12:05 CET Doctors without borders informed via email that their team had provided medical assistance to 7 people in need.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
