Summary of the Case: We received an alert about a group of 4 people who have arrived on the island of Samos. We made contact with the group who told us they urgently need a doctor as one person in the group is very unwell. They told us they were in a group of 34 but were split up. We immediately alerted the Greek authorities and NGOs on the island by email. We do not get a response, and the next morning at 08:45 CEST we called the police station on Samos to ask about the group, they told us they have been found. We also received confirmation from Docotrs without borders in the afternoon that the group had been found and was with the police on the way to the camp.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
