Summary of the case: On Friday the 26th of July 2024, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted by a relative to a group of 103 travellers, including 77 men, 21 women, and 5 children, in distress in the Central Mediterranean Sea. The travellers had left from Sabratha, Libya, around midnight on a white rubber boat. The relative gave us their GPS position and we immediately alerted the relevant search and rescue authorities, relaying all the information we had. Later, we learned that the travellers had been intercepted by the so-called Libyan coastguard.
