Watch The Med Alarm Phone Investigations – 11th of September 2023

Case name: 2023_09_11-WM060

Situation: Fate unknown

Status of WTM Investigation: Concluded

Place of Incident: Western Mediterranean

Summary of the Case:

On the 11th of September, just before midnight, the Alarm Phone shift team was notified about a boat that had left very early in the morning from the Algerian city of Oran. The boat carried ten travellers including a child. The shift team sent an alert to the Spanish search and rescue organisation Salvamento Maritimo although they didn’t have any precise information such as the travellers latest GPS-position. The following days, Alarm Phone actively tried to gather more information on the fate of the travellers. However, on the 14th of September the shift team decided to close the case since Alarm Phone didn’t receive any updates. We very much hope that they made it safely to land by themselves.
