Summary of the Case: On the 12th of August 2023, a relative alerted the Alarmphone to a boat in distress in the Atlantic Ocean. The rubber boat with 54 travellers, among them six women, had departed on the 10th of August from Tan Tan, Morocco. The Alarmphone shift team could not establish direct contact to the travellers. It alerted the Spanish search and rescue organisation to the boat, relaying all the information that the relative had shared with the Alarmphone. The Spanish Coast Guard said on a phone call that they had already been informed and would start searching. The Spanish search and rescue organization Salvamento Maritimo also communicated in the evening of the 12th that they had searched for the boat but had not found it, the same information they repeated the next day. The Spanish Coast Guard then informed that they were in an ongoing search and rescue operation but that it was still unclear whether it was the boat in question or not. After a period of uncertainty, the shift team received information from the relative that the boat had arrived and that everyone is safe.
