Situation: 10 travellers in distress in the Western Med, rescued by Salvamento Maritimo and brought to Motril.

Status of WTM Investigation: Concluded

Place of Incident: Western Mediterranean Sea

Summary of the case: On Thursday the 20th of October 2022, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted by a relative to a group of ten travellers, all men, in distress in the Alboran Sea. The travellers had left from Temsamane at around 03.00 CEST the same morning on a black rubber boat. We were not able to establish direct contact to the boat, but immediately alerted the Spanish search and rescue organisation Salvamento Maritimo, relaying all the information we had. The following afternoon we learned from the relative that the travellers had been rescued by Salvamento Maritimo and brought to Motril.
