Summary of the Case:

In the early morning of 30 October 2022 our team was alerted by up to 15 men who had stranded on Samos. They reported that some of them were sick and in need of medical assistance and all of them very cold. At 6:54 CET we alerted Greek authorities and several NGOs about their situation.
At 18:31 CET Medicis Sans Frontieres (MSF) confirmed via E-Mail that they had found 11 people and provided medical and humanitarian assistance to them: The group reported that they were 11 people and not 15 as initially alerted for in our email.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
