Place of Incident: Atlantic Sea.
Summary: On Tuesday the 23rd of November 2021, the Alarm Phone shift team received a direct call from a boat in distress in the Atlantic Sea. Onboard were 50 travellers, including two women and a baby. The travellers had left from Dakhla around three days previously on a black rubber boat, heading towards Gran Canaria. The travellers told us that they needed immediate assistance as water was entering their boat. We alerted the Spanish search and rescue organisation Salvamento Maritimo, and passed on all the information we had about the distress situation. At 20.57 CET we spoke on the phone to the travellers, who told us that they were next to the port of Gran Canaria. At 22.10 CET we received a confirmation from Salvamento Maritimo that they had rescued the boat at 10 km south east of Gran Canaria.
