Summary of Case In the evening of September 9th Alarm Phone was called by a relative who alerted us to a group of 85-90 travellers, including children, who were in distress off the coast of Tunisia. We were able to reach the boat directly who informed us they had been at sea for three days and had neither food nor dringing water. The group related their GPS position which we forwarded to authorities at 22.40 CEST. Throughout the night worried relatives called us, asking for news about this boat and highlighting deteriorating weather conditions. At 11.15 CEST the relative who had first alerted us to the group in distress informed us that the people had been rescued from sea and intercepted by the Tunisian Marine.
