Summary of Case In the afternoon of August 11th Alarm Phone received a call by a relative alerting us to a boat in distress carrying five children, 32 women and 27 men. We were unable to establish direct contact to the boat and informed authorities at 15.34 CEST. We were unable to establish contact to the boat in distress throughout the night and following day. At 20.33 CEST August 12th the relative who had alerted us to the case informed us the people had been intercepted by the Tunisian marine and taken to Sfax.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets.
