Summary of the Case: At 23:11h CEST of Friday the 2nd of July the Alarm Phone was alerted by a worried relative to a boat in distress carrying 17 travellers including 5 women, which had departed in the morning of the previous day from Sfax, Tunisia. After unsuccessfully trying several to reach the travellers ourselves at 00:23h our shift team called the Italian coastguard and passed on all the information we had. During the following day we called Italian and Tunisian coastguards several times trying to find out whether the boat had been rescued. While we could not reach the travellers themselves, we kept contact with the relative who first alerted us. At 22:57h of the following day, the relative confirmed that the travellers had arrived to Italy.

Border police patrols
