Summary of Case In the night of September 9th Alarm Phone was called by a realative who alerted us to a boat in distress carrying 60 women, 16 children and 40 men, who had departed Sfax and were now close to Lampedusa, unable to move further. We were able to establish direct contact to the group of people in distress but were unable to find out their GPS position. We alerted authorities at 00.52 CEST September 9th. At 01.10 CEST the relative who alerted us to the distress situation confirmed the landing of the group to Lampedusa.

  • Border police patrols
