Summary of the Case:
At around 16:00h we were alerted by a relative to a boat carrying 35 people, including children. The position we were given was not far from Turkey. The relative told us that a vessel that belonged from their point of view to the Greek coastguard had arrived on scene, taken the engine and left. We contacted the people on board, but they were already on a Turkish coastguard vessel and were being returned to Turkey. The fact that the Greek coastguard had been involved in that the position we were given was so close to Turkey suggests that they had been pushed back into the Turkish SAR zone.

We are still investigating the case.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets.
