Summary of the Case: On Tuesday the 30th of April, at 01:06 am CEST, we were alerted that a group of 15 travelers were stranded on an island. The location received by a contact person was on the Greek island of Kos. After several failed attempts to contact Kos police, at 02:00 am our shift team alerted Kos port authorities. Port authorities informed us that they were already aware of the case. A few minutes later our contact person confirmed the rescue. However, we were not able to reach the travellers and get a direct confirmation that they had been brought to safety.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
