Summary of the Case: On Wednesday May 23 at 3.44am, the Alarm Phone received a WhatsApp alerting that 27 people, including 7 children, were on their way to Kos when the engine stopped at 2.15am. The Alarm Phone tried to reach the boat by calling and sending WhatsApp messages, one message was delivered but not read. As the position could be unreliable as it dated from 1.5 hours previous, the Alarm Phone tried constantly to reach out to the travellers. At 4.20am, the Alarm Phone was notified by the contact person that the travellers had arrived on their own on the Greek island and thus needed help. The Alarm Phone reached out to the travellers, but they said they didn’t need help and arrived safe on the island.
