Summary of the Case:
In the early morning of the 5th of February, Alarm Phone was contacted by a concerned relative, informing us about a group of 21 people in distress who stranded Samos.
At 07:26 CET after we sent a WhatsApp message to the people, they got back to us and reported that they had arrived the night before and were hiding in the woods, cold, scared and without water.
At 09:00 CET we sent an alerting Email to the relevant authorities including Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
At 09:04 CET MSF responded and confirmed that they will send a medical team to provide medical and humanitarian assistance to these people.
At 12:29 CET we received another email from MSF informing us of their arrival at the site. The MSF team provided medical and humanitarian assistance to 21 people, including 9 children and 4 women. The group was hungry and presented minor injuries.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
