Summary of the Case: In the morning of the 11th of May 2022, Alarm Phone received a call by a worried relative alerting us to a group of 26 adults and 4 babies in distress, stranded on Samos Island. We immediately alerted the authorities at 10:07 asking for the travellers to be rescued. A few hours later we receive news from MSF that they have sent a team to search for the travellers in distress, and by the late afternoon they relayed to us that they found all the travellers and took 3 people to the hospital and the rest to the camp.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
