Summary of the case: On Saturday the 3rd of August 2024, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted by a relative to a group of 106 travellers in distress in the Central Mediterranean Sea. The travellers had left from Sabratha, Libya, on a white rubber boat. We were not able to reach the travellers and did not know their exact GPS position. However, we immediately alerted the relevant search and rescue authorities, relaying all the information we had. According to the relative, the so-called Libyan coastguard arrived to the boat and stole their satellite phone. Later, they were intercepted by the so-called Libyan coastguard and brought to Tripoli.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets.
