Summary of the Case: In the afternoon of the 14th of January, a relative alerted the Alarmphone shift team to a boat in distress in the Central Mediterranean. The boat had started on the 11th of January from Sfax, Tunisia. There were 45 to 47 people, around 40 men and 5 women, the boat was a seven meter long wooden boat with two engines. The shift team did not manage to reach the travellers and relayed all the information to the Italian and Maltese authorities. On the 15th of January, the shift team did still not manage to reach the travellers and the authorities did not provide any information about rescues. Therefore it remains unclear what happened to the people on this boat.
