Summary of the Case: On the 06th of December, a relative informed Alarm Phone about a boat with 54 travellers in distress near Fuerteventura. The relative reported that the boat had been part of a convoy that had left from Akhfenir and Chibika on the night of 6th December in the direction of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Alarm Phone managed to establish contact with the people on the boat, who shared their position and reported that water was entering the boat. Thus, Alarm Phone informed the Spanish search and rescue organisation Salvamento Maritimo about the situation and the location of the boat in distress. Salvamento Maritimo soon after confirmed the deployment of one of their boats and later reported an ongoing rescue operation. Without having had contact with the people on the boat again, Alarm Phone assumes that the travellers had been rescued.
