Summary of the Case: On the 11th of October 2023, the Alarm Phone shift team got alerted by a relative to a group of travellers in distress in the Atlantic Ocean. The group of 80 people, including 10 women, left Boujdour, Western Sahara, in the early morning hours of the 10th of October in a rubber boat. The relative shared an approximate position of the boat with the shift team, who immediately alerted the Spanish search and rescue organisation Salvamento Maritimo and passed on the relevant information. After repeated enquiries to the Spanish and Moroccan rescue authorities, the shift team only learnt in the afternoon that the boat had been rescued.
