Summary of the case: On Saturday the 26th of August 2023, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted by a relative to a group of 46 travellers, including four women, in distress in the Atlantic Ocean. The travellers had left from Tan Tan in the early hours of the morning on a white rubber boat. We were not able to establish direct contact to the boat. However, we alerted the Spanish search and rescue organisation Salvamento Maritimo, relaying all the information we had. They informed us that they were searching for the boat with aircrafts as neither Salvamento Maritimo, Guardia Civil or Moroccan rescue authorities had found the travellers. For days the search and rescue mission went on, and we kept attempting to reach the travellers to no avail. In the end, the search ended and the travellers remain missing.
