Summary of the case: On Tuesday the 18th of October 2022, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted by a relative to a group of 55 travellers, 10 women and 45 men, in distress in the Atlantic Ocean. The travellers had left from Boujdour at around 01.00 CEST on the 16th of October, heading towards the Canary Islands. We relayed all the information we had to the Moroccan search and rescue authorities. They told us that they had intercepted a boat close to Boujdour, but could not confirm whether this was the boat in question. However, in the afternoon the relative informed us that the travellers had been intercepted by the Moroccan navy.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets.
