Case name: 2022_04_26-WM019

Situation: 25 travellers in distress in the Alboran, rescued by Salvamento Maritimo and brought to Motril.

Status of WTM Investigation: Concluded

Place of Incident: Western Mediterranean

Summary of the case: On Tuesday the 26th of April 2022, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted by a relative to a group of 25 travellers, all men, in distress in the Alboran Sea.
The travellers had left the previous afternoon from Temsamane on a green fiber glass boat. We were not able to reach the travellers directly, but relayed all the information we had to the Spanish search and rescue organisation Salvamento Maritimo. In the afternoon, we learned that Salvamento Maritimo had rescued a boat corresponding to the description we had received and in the evening the relative confirmed that the travellers had arrived safely to Motril.
