Summary of Case In the late evening of September 11th a relative alerted us to a group of 20 men in distress who had departed Morocco in a green boat with direction Spain. We were unable to establish direct contact to the boat and informed authorities at 00.16 CEST September 12th. At 18.15 CEST we managed to call the people in distress; they said they could see an orange boat drawing nearer to them. Half an hour later we received confirmation of the rescue to Spain through the relative who had alerted us to the distress situation.

  • Border police patrols
     
    While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets.
