Summary of Case: In the evening of September 21st Alarm Phone was called by a relative who informed us about the distress of a group of 16 women, 6 children and 12 men who had departed Dakhla for the Canary Islands in a wooden boat two nights previously. We were unable to establish direct contact to the people in distress and forwarded the distress call to authorities at 21.13 CEST. At 09.00 CEST the following morning the Spanish Search and Rescue organisation Salvamento Marítimo (SM) Las Palmas informed us the boat had been found and the people taken to the Canary Islands

Border police patrols
