Case name: 2021_08_07-WM660
Situation: 15 travellers on their way from Algeria, rescued by Salvamento Maritimo and brought to Ibiza
Status of WTM Investigation: Concluded
Place of Incident: Western Mediterranean

Summary of case: On Saturday the 7th of August 2022 in the morning, we were contacted by relatives looking for a group of 15 travellers. The travellers were all men, and had left from Algeria towards Spain at 05.00 CEST the same morning on a blue wooden boat. We were not able to reach the travellers directly and did not know their exact GPS location. At 08.35 CEST we forwarded all information we had to the Spanish search and rescue organisation Salvamento Maritimo. Throughout the day we stayed in close contact with many relatives. The following day at 11.05 CEST we learned from Salvamento Maritimo that a boat matching this description had been rescued and brought to Ibiza.
