Case name: 2021_08_03-WM657
Situation: 7 travellers crossing the Alboran Sea, rescued and brought to Motril.
Status of WTM Investigation: Concluded
Place of Incident: Western Mediterranean

Summary
On Tuesday the 3rd of August 2021 in the evening, the Alarm Phone was alerted by a relative to a boat in distress in the Alboran Sea. The polyester boat was carrying seven travellers who had left from close to Nador at around 01.00 local time the same morning. The relatives had last spoken to them at 03.00 local time. It was not possible for our shift team to establish direct contact to the travellers. At 18.01 CEST we informed the Spanish search and rescue organisation Salvamento Maritimo via phone and email about the distress case. Salvamento Maritimo, however, was not willing to give us any information about ongoing search and rescue efforts. At 21.47 CEST we learned from the relatives who had spoken to the travellers that they had all arrived safely to Mortil.
