Summary of the Case:

On the 8th of July 2021 at 08:03 CEST the Alarm Phone was alerted to a distress. The 49 people who contacted us were stranded on an oil platform (Didon Oil Platform). We shared the information with the Italian coast guard. Some later we could see online that two merchant vessels approaching the platform. We emailed to Italian coast guard that we fear an illegal pushback and also published a tweet about the situation.

In the afternoon we called the Tunisian coast guard who confirmed the rescue and the pull back to Tunisia. We sadly close this case.

Border police patrols
