Summary of the Case:
On the 11th of June 2021 at 12:01 CEST the Alarm Phone received a call from a satellite phone. The caller alarmed the hotline about the urgent distress situation onboard and gave the following information: 85 people on a blue wooden boat, which is equipped with two engines but only one is working. They started from Zuwara the day before in the evening. Before they could transfer the GPS position the call broke. At 12:33 CEST the Alarm Phone received the current GPS position and relayed it at 13:37 CEST to Italian and Maltese coast guards, as well as to the so-called Libyan coast guards, to the NGOs Sea-Watch and Pilotes Volontaires and to the NGO vessel Geo Barents. At 14:09 CEST the Alarm Phone had the last contact to the travellers. Luckily, the NGO vessel Geo Barents rescued that boat.
