Case name: 2021_05_06-WM600

Situation: 12 people, among them 2 woman started from Nador, Morrocco and were probably intercepted by Marine Royal

Status of WTM Investigation: concluded

Place of Incident: Western Mediterranean

Summary of the Case:

In the afternoon of 6th of May 2021 the Alarm Phone received the information that 12 people, among them two woman, departed midnight on 4th of May 2021 from Nador. The caller passed two telephone numbers to us. The telephone numbers of the travellers weren’t reachable. At 16:50h CEST we informed the Spanish coastguard in Almeria via phone and later via email. On this day many boats were on the way to Spain. The next day, 7th of May 2021, we called next to the Spanish coastguards also other authorities to gather information. This wasn’t fruitful. As we heard from relative about a possible interception, we also called MRCC Rabat. The information we got was more than vague. In the end of the day another relative confirmed the intercepted, so we closed the case.
