Summary of the case:

On the 11th of October at 21:28h CEST the Alarm Phone received a message about a jet ski in distress carrying 3 travelers who left Al Hoceima in the morning. The relatives of the travelers have called the Moroccan Navy Marine Royal (MR), however they haven’t rescued them. We informed the Spanish Search and Rescue Agency Salvamento Maritimo (SM) and the Red Cross however they also haven’t heard about the boat. On the following day after numerous calls with SM, MR and the Red Cross we still had no information. The case was passed on to CIPIM who deal with cases of people missing at sea. Until today we did not hear about the fate of the three people and have to fear the worst.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
