Summary of the case:

On the 8th of October at 13:11h CEST the Alarm Phone received a message about a boat in distress carrying 20 travelers who left Tamsaman in the morning of the previous day. The authorities were shortly after informed, however they claimed to have not heard of this boat. On the following day at midday we received a confirmation from relatives of the travelers that the boat had been rescued to Almeria.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
