Summary of the Case:

During the afternoon of October 11th, 2022, the Alarm Phone was contacted by a group of people who arrived on Samos island and were asking for help. At 15:10 CEST, we informed authorities and different NGOs about the group of 5 people who were dehydrated and asked for medical support. At 16:50 CEST, we received an email from Medicins Sans Frontières (MSF). In it, they reported to have assisted a group of 8 people at the indicated location, providing them with medical and humanitarian assistance. The people were brought to the camp afterwards.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33). Coastal radars

Exclusive Economic Zone
