Summary of the Case: On the morning of 26th of September 2022, we received an alert for 7 people who had arrived on Samos and needed assistance. We are told some of the group are injured. and need medical help. We alert the Greek authorities and NGOs on the island straightaway. Later that morning we receive confirmation that the group were found by Medicine Sans Frontiers and are now in the camp.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
