Summary of the case: On Thursday the 8th of August 2024, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted by a relative to a group of 65 travellers in distress in the Central Mediterranean Sea. The travellers had left from Tripoli in the early hours of the morning on a wooden boat. From the relative we got their GPS position and immediately alerted the relevant search and rescue authorities, relaying all the information we had. Later, we learned that the travellers had been intercepted by the so-called Libyan coastguard.

  • Border police patrols
