Summary of the case: On Saturday the 8th of June 2024, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted to a group of 32 travellers, all men, in distress in the Central Mediterranean Sea. The travellers had left from Zawiya, Libya, around 24 hours earlier on a fiberglass boat. We managed to get their GPS position and immediately alerted the relevant search and rescue authorities, relaying all the information we had. After this, neither we nor the relative were able to reach the travellers. Later, we learned from a relative that the travellers had reached Lampedusa safely.

Border police patrols
