Summary of the Case:

In the early morning of the 9th of January, Alarm Phone was contacted by a worried relative, alerting us to a group of 16 people, including 4 children, stranded on Chios. When we contacted them directly, the people told us that it was raining, they were very cold, and that they were fearing for their children's lives. They were also very scared of being pushed back by Greek authorities. At 6:35 CET, we sent an email to authorities, including Chios police. After a few calls with officers who didn't want to answer our questions, we finally learned at 9:30 CET that the people had been found and would be brought to a reception and identification center. After that, we couldn't get into direct contact with the people anymore.

Border police patrols
