Watch The Med Alarm Phone Investigations – 10th of October 2023
Case name: 2023_10_10-ATL065
Situation: A group of 60 travellers went missing after they left Tan Tan, Morocco on the 10th of October.
Status of WTM Investigation: Concluded
Place of Incident: Atlantic Ocean

Summary of the Case: On the 10th of October 2023, the Alarm Phone shift team got alerted by a relative to a group of travellers in distress in the Atlantic Ocean. The group of 60 people left from a place close to Tan Tan on the 7th of October at around 04:00 CEST in a rubber boat. The shift team could not reach the people on the boat but still alerted the Spanish search and rescue organisation Salvamento Maritimo. Throughout the next days, the shift teams contacted Spanish and Moroccan rescue authorities but neither of them could confirm the rescue of the boat, also because there had been multiple arrivals and rescues ongoing. After multiple days of unsuccessful research into the whereabouts of the people, the Alarm Phone had to close the case. We sincerely hope that the people have arrived safely in Spain and wish their relatives clarity in the unbearable situation of their loved ones missing.
