Situation: 8 travellers went missing in the Mediterranean Sea, after some weeks it turned out that at least some of them had been detained in Spain.

Summary of the Case: On the 09th of October 2023, the Alarm Phone shift team got alerted by a relative to a group of eigth travellers that had left Antaya, Algeria, on the 4th of October. Neither the relative nor the shift team were able to reach the travellers. The shift team alerted the Spanish search and rescue organization Salvamento Maritimo, relaying all the information. Salvamento Maritimo informed the shift team, that there had been an alert about this group before but the whereabouts of the group has not been clarified – for some more weeks, Alarm Phone did not know what happened to the eight travellers but then learned from relatives that at least one of them had been detained in Spain. It is still unclear what happened to the other travellers.
