Summary of the case: On Sunday the 27th of August 2023, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted by a relative to a group of 60 travellers, including seven women, in distress in the Atlantic Ocean. The travellers had left from Boujdour on a black rubber boat the previous morning. We were not able to establish direct contact to the boat, but received a GPS position from the relative which was a few hours old. We immediately alerted the Spanish search and rescue organisation Salvamento Maritimo to the distress situation, relaying all the information we had. We later learned that the travellers had been rescued by Salvamento Maritimo and brought to Las Palmas.

Border police patrols
