Summary of the Case:

In the early afternoon of the 6th of January, the Alarm Phone was alerted to a group of 33 people, who landed in the north-western part of Lesvos. The group were in urgent need of medical assistance and wanted to apply for asylum in Greece. At 13:43 CET we alerted the relevant authorities and Doctors Without Borders (MSF) by email. We later found out that the group consisted of about 45 people, including several young children. At 18:33 CET we updated the authorities and MSF with this new information and position. In the evening, MSF wrote an email confirming that they found the group and provided medical and psychological support, stating that they were stopped by the police for almost 2 hours.

  • Border police patrols
