Summary of the Case: On July 2, 2022, the AlarmPhone was contacted by two people stranded on the Isla de Perejil off the Moroccan coast. They had been stranded for two days and had run out of food and water. The AlarmPhone notified the Spanish search and rescue coordinator Salvamento Marítimo (SM) about the situation. Shortly after, we lost contact with the two people. The following day, family members contacted the AlarmPhone to inform us that the two people had been captured and beaten by the Moroccan police.

    While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets.
