Summary of the Case:
At 1.20pm CET the Alarm Phone was alerted to the case of a single man, 24years old, who had entered a ferry from Ceuta to mainland Spain in clandestine the night before and had slipped off the boat. At 2.01pm we called Salvamento Maritimo in Algeciras, who confirmed the rescue was coordinated by MRCC Tarifa. The Alarm Phone found an online article from Ceuta at 1.37pm stating that a merchant vessle had found a “boy” in the water who had been swimming for more than 12hours. At 2.20pm Salvamento Maritimo in Tarifa confirmed the rescue of the person the Alarm Phone was alerted to: The ferry times, as well as age and gender of the person are identical. They were brought to a hospital in Jerez, Spain.
