Summary of the Case:

On 28 November 2022 we were alerted by three people who were in need of medical assistance after landing on Lesvos. At 12:38 CET we alerted Greek authorities and several NGOs by email.

At 15:19 CET Doctors without borders (MSF) informed via email that their team had provided medical assistance to these 3 people in need: “The asylum seekers have been transferred to Mavravouni Camp by the Police.”

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets. In the open sea, it usually correspond to the outer extent of the contiguous zone, the area in which “State may exercise the control necessary to prevent infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws” (UNCLOS, art. 33).
