Summary of the case: On Tuesday the 30th of August 2022, the Alarm Phone shift team was alerted by a relative to a group of eight travellers, all men, on distress in the Alboran Sea. The travellers had left from close to Boyafar at around 05.00 am the same morning on a white rubber boat. We immediately alerted the Spanish search and rescue organisation to the distress situation. We were not able to establish a direct contact to the travellers. Several days later, we were informed by the relative that the travellers had been rescued to Almeria.

Border police patrols
While the exact location of patrols is of course constantly changing, this line indicates the approximate boundary routinely patrolled by border guards’ naval assets.
